The Colourless Maat, also known as Astahl, is the mastermind behind Second Revelation and its prior iterations, potentially spanning centuries.
Little is known of 'The Drifter', only that he is found all over the world as a wandering mystic; many believe he is First Herald Ttsoghal, left to wander and search the world for his love, Ttiana.
It was here, lost at sea, that Reymah's prayers for a greater power to manifest itself revealed to her.

As the Drifter, the Maat is an elderly man, dressed in the robes of a wandering mad mystic and holding a black twisted cane. The first time Vaxis met the Drifter, he was a jolly philosopher wandering the streets of Palisades. The next, he was significantly older, his mind and body both faded from age and weariness. He appears morally conflicted on his plans, influencing world events for centuries, potentially millenia.
As the younger, more intense Maat, he wears a light weight exo-suit, carries a number of drones from an unknown era, and sometimes carries the First Herald weapon UN1T3D. This Maat seems to be new to his powers and purpose, and appears to be on a campaign of violence against his own organization.
As a Null, it is presumed he has access to the same abilities Orin has, including non-native resistances.
As described by the Mantri, the Maat is a man 'Outside' of time and space, and appears, seemingly randomly, in different places and eras. The Maat has learnt through this ability that the future, while not predetermined, can be influenced by perception. When the Maat visits the future, present or even the unknown past, he 'fixes' the localized event into casuality, including contradicting past, well-established events.
Due to the chaotic nature of his appearances, and the small range of influence he has on the future, the Maat influences events with the belief there will be a 'Reckoning Cascade' where his influence and planning will eventually and inevitably result in his goals being met. As to whether Second Revelation is privy, or even a key part of this cascade, is unknown.
Based on a meeting with Vaxis, the Maat may also be able to influence 'parallel' realities. To what end this ability has on his plans is unknown.
