Calendar

The current Nothian calendar uses the Gartern system; each year is 275 days and ends on an equinox of the Sun, Garter, the rings and Noth itself, leading to a solar eclipse that lasts 4 days. The year is divided into 9 months of 30-31 days, which are divided into 7 day weeks. This system was a massive rework of an old calendar in use by the Tributionary body, which had 324 days, 9 day weeks and 36 day months. The current is deemed more accurate by Gartologers and has seen continent-wide use.

Seasons

There are 3 seasons noted in the Gartern Calendar:

  • Equinar or Malasmar - Starts with a Solar eclipse at the beginning of Rishern and ends at the beginning of Esele. The most temperate season, rainy, warm and cloudy, as crops are planted at the start of the season and the harvest begins at the end of the third month.
  • Aspogar - The coldest season as Noth moves towards the farthest point away from the sun. As the mild tempratures end in Nephe many augral communities celebrate the 'Garternal Renewal' or 'Aspogar Festival', a moon festival celebrating the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the shortest and coldest days.
  • Perigar - The hottest and driest season. As temperatures climb the second planting season starts of hardier, less water intensive crops begins. The primary fishing season across Enaeth as warm water migration channels bring the largest fish to Voltaine and Bedlo's shores.
