Kovan was born in a Loxodon commune that regularly migrates between the cities of Rhyne and Gamat, in Northern Arath. Like many of his kind, he developed a wandering soul at a young age, and sought to explore all of Noth; perhaps being the first in a cycle to do so.

This adventurous ideal was put to rest when a curious Kovan joined the newly formed Misiv Service to finance his journey. Even so young, Kovan quickly became sought for his strength and affable charm, and he became highly requested for long-range heavy freight services.

Despite his carefree exterior, Kovan was under no illusions on when to cheerfully threaten or use violence; proving to many unwary why you should never cross a loxodon.

It was during many of his travels that he first encountered Second Sunrise, and offered to accompany them northward through the Neck. Some

members of the group found his presence reassuring, while others found his

upbeat attitude and social naivete grating.

He would become wound up in their quest; helping them Liberate Hedera Complex. He was sent by Foreman Yeor to warn Regina of the assassination of Herald Rohktar, and would later reunite with Second Sunrise during the Siege of Palisades. He accompanied Ffamran on their mission to get reinforcements from Rhyne, but was mortally wounded in this journey. In a sacrificial act, he was given the

survival kit meant for Ffamran to patch his wounds, and left while Ffamran continued. He was later rescued by the approaching Rhyne army, and reunited with an ascended Ffamran later that week. He devoted himself to his savior, and joined him in the formation of Second Sunrise.
