Eeder Othon

Herald Eeder Othon, also known as The Preacher, was the Ordinant Magnate of Maysuria, and is currently a member of the Preachers of Old Maysuria and leader of 'The Faithful'

Description

In his youth, Eeder Othon was a handsome darkskinned man, with greying black hair, carefully trimmed beard and moustache and noble energy around him.

He was known for his belief in 'true' justice; one that always upheld the rights of the common and needy, even if it contradicted established law.

When rediscovered in the Complex, he is almost unrecognizable, his beard long and hair in a rough bun, wearing the roughly cut robes of a nomad. His battle with alcohol has wasted his features, but that same noble energy can still be seen, deep within his eyes.

History

Eeder had an unremarkable childhood, but grew up a humble and caring man. When he came of age, he joined the court preachers for Maysuria, and became a philosopher of the law for the commons in the region.

It was in a village east of Maysuria that Eeder's passion for justice would first reveal itself. Disgusted by the abusive actions of a magistrate upon the locals, he dragged the man out into the streets without lawful authority, and in front of a growing crowd whipped the man in the village square.

He fled as enforcers from Maysuria pursued him across the Eridinea. Eeder would spend these years on the run, but developed a reputation in the villages here for 'frontier justice', helping the poor and needy face oppression and overturn subjugation. It was here that the legend of 'Preacher Eeder' would begin.

When Maysuria was sacked by King Voltaine II, Eeder would return to his home and began mustering a militia, then an army, and eventually an alliance with other city-state powers to topple the greedy King.

Leading an army and seeking vengeance took its toll on Eeder, and he began to doubt his leadership and authority; wasn't he just a humble preacher?

Defeating Voltaine's armies and pushing the King back to his city, both leaders agreed to a duel, Eeder to stop further bloodshed, Voltaine to prove his might to his rebelling Barons. Voltaine proved the better combatant, fatally wounding Eeder. Dying from bloodloss, Eeder fell into the Rubicon, and his doubts washed away as he was shown again and again the injustice of inaction. Ascending, he forced Voltaine to proclaim his guilt to all. Mentally tortured by the anguish of his crimes, Voltaine begged for death, and Eeder passed the judgement, executing Voltaine and ending the war.

Eeder was elected the Ordinant Magnate of Maysuria, and began the tolling task of rebuilding what was lost. When the Violate King arrived in Enaeth, Eeder would not tolerate a bandit lord to oppress and destroy on his watch. Eeder led out his armies from Maysuria, and was soundly defeated. Retreating to Maysuria, Eeder was presumably killed when the Violate King annihilated the city, killing everyone within.

Recent Events

Eeder survived however, and aimlessly wandered the land in grief and hopelessness. He banded together what remained of Maysuria, and formed the Preachers of Old Maysuria. Turning back to substance abuse, Eeder eventually lost sight, abandoning his followers and turning into a wandering vagrant only known as 'The Preacher'. His feet carried him to north to an abandoned complex. As if by chance or heraldic influence, people became drawn to this tower and the once empty home of the Preacher became a small settlement.

During the assault on the Complex, Eeder was identified by Vaxis, now a drunken old man. With inspiring words from Grippsly, Eeder was convinced to rally his 'Faithful' and help Second Sunrise take the tower and end the lockdown. He announced to the people of the Complex his intent to help Second Sunrise in reclaiming Elimarah. He then helped negotiate for the Complex to become an independent city now known as Hederas.

He led his faithful to the Fallen Litany, and secured the exterior while Second Sunrise attempted, but failed to rescue Elimarah. He led a prayer ritual to bring Grippsly back to life.

Assisting in the escape from Second Revelation, Eeder bid farewell to Second Sunrise in Palisades, and with the Faithful left to seek out surviving members of the Preachers of Old Maysuria and begin bringing back law to a lawless land.
