Vennish Derelict

The Vennish Derelict is the remnant, immortal population of the Vennish invasion, blockaded and watched from land and sea for centuries.

Background

Unknown to the cultures of the continent of Noth, many other continental bodies have been hypothesized, based on predicted measurements of celestial distance.

One of these continents, known to the Astelleian's as 'Ven'Mar', is home to the fey creatures known as the Ven.

The Ven are a parallel evolved grouping of species similar to the Anthropean societies of Noth, but distinctly plantlike; the fungal troglodyte, the floral but ferocious slyph, and the noble curved eyed and vined Ven themselves.

They arrived in Noth in 1430, floating above Astele on enormous ships made of trees and roots. They swiftly conquered and occupied the isles, before sailing east to conquer Arath.

Their trees took root and expanded the Ven's continental fauna to Arath; fauna which still dominates the north east of the continent.

Despite the prowess of the Ven in war alongside their advanced biological technology, they were defeated in a war of attrition when Tya'liths were deployed en-masse in 1440 2G.c.

The 3 great Tree Vessels burned and crashed to the ground, becoming the roots of what would later be called the Black Salons; twisted black fortress, which hauntingly harken the designs of the Outsider Gods.

Despite the Arathern front's best attempts, these fortresses were unassailable. As the Tya'lith revolt gripped Arath, and with the enemy already in ruins, a land, sea and air blockade was established, to both watch for and prevent the Ven from leaving.

In truth, the Ven were diminished; A scant 50-100 survived the invasion. Most of these survivors were the young and their caretakers, confined to their vault like fortresses.

Over the centuries, some of these Ven would leave the confines of the Salons, either abandoning their cause or strengthening it through unknown means.

They are presumed to be immortal, or exceedingly long lived if the Mantri is to be believed. Many individuals across Enaeth and Arath bare physical traits similar to the Ven, and a deep 'longing' sensation to somewhere far to the Northwest; the presumed homeland of the Ven.

Their current number and objectives are unknown. The military government of Vesparthe continues to man the fortresses created in watching them and the skies above, awaiting a Return that may never come.
