Fenror Volk'na

Fenror Volk'na was a pilgrim of the Pennant Archae, and now Pathsetter for the Volk'na people. He is both leader of the Orthodox Diaspora and a member of Second Sunrise.

Description

Fenror is a massive mix of his Arathern heritage; Goliath, Elf, and Earth Genasi, with mostly his blunt Goliath features showing.

Fenror was a proponent of a heavily fundamentalist 'Path of Shame'; he believed the slow decay of his people stemmed from a lack of discipline and extreme penitence. He followed these beliefs despite the disapproval of his more moderate family.

Despite his initial approval of war between the citylanders, the death of his father awakened a perspective change in Fenror, and he called for and led his faction to make amends for his people's actions.

History

Born one year before the Violate War began, Fenror was old enough to comprehend the great loss of his aunt, the former Emerit Ekya Nohma, Herald and leader of the Pennant Archae people. Growing into a zealous young man, his moderate father, Feros, commanded him with the recovery of a sacred artefact from Voltaine, a pilgrimage he hoped would turn Fenror away from his path of zealotry, and help the Pennant Archae.

Accompanied by his Uncle, Rehn, Fenror set out for the city of Voltaine. Despite the alienation and his distaste for the 'citylander's world, he was successful in the recovery of 'The Eye of the Ephemeral'. On their long journey home, Fenror's band encountered a mercenary group protecting a strange member of the Merse.

The two groups converged for protection from dangers present in the Neck. Despite Fenror's reservations, and the secretive nature of his journey, he entered into discussions and expressed his admiration for Orin and Ffamran, who were former frontier men. He found a great peer in Mhoram, also a tribal nomad, and Mhoram shared some of his pattern with Fenror. Their paths diverted when Vaxis' mark as a 'Pathless' was revealed; Fenror had to be calmed by his uncle to avoid violence, and the groups split in the night.

Returning to the Volk'na people, Fenror presented the Eye to his father, who promoted his son to Forerunner, and alongside Rehn led the Volk'na to the Memorial Grounds, sending messengers to summon the other tribes and begin the Recall.

During the Recall, Fenror watched with approval as the meeting became overcome by the extremist desires of Fafnir, Fenror's uncle, who declared the use of force the only way; to both remind TAERA of their importance in the world, and the best chance at NFSS showing the tribes a way forward. Resigned to the path set forward by the Recall, Feros elects to lead, as a call to arms began to besiege the city of Palisades.

It was during this siege that Fenror cross paths again with this mercenary group, now leading the defenses. He offers to Orin all members of Palisades amnesty if they surrender to them. Their offer refused, and in the ensuing battle, Fenror watches with horror as Aingrim duels and beheads Feros. Fenror is dragged screaming and crying away from battle.

Fenror watched with his family as his father burned on the pyre. Before the embers had cooled, Fafnir took charge of the campaign, calling for no leinance in the immediate and complete destruction of Palisades. Fenror experienced a change of heart from his zealous ways, and stood against Fafnir, calling his path meritless and challenging him to leadership, the loser an exile forever.

Despite the odds, Fenror proved the victor. Fafnir refused to honor the outcome, and the tribes split, with Fenror now leader of the Orthodox Pennant Archae.

Fenror then negotiated an alliance with Palisades, and led a betrayal against the Separatist faction in the final battle of the siege. There, Fenror sought Fafnir out, and in a second duel, sliced off the fingers of his right hand. Fafnir escaped, leaving Fenror in charge of half a people. But they are now no longer directionless; perhaps the path they walked would be the right one after all...
